No two individuals are alike. They differ in their features, expressions, and thinking. Depending upon one temperament one may be said to be mild, intense, sublime, dominating etc. Dommes is basically a word that is used to refer to women who are overtly dominant. The dominant behavior can be observed in different contexts. It may be in terms of general behavior, or in context of sexual behavior. However, the word has come to be associated more and more with the sexual behavior where a woman wants to dominate in bed. Many psychological explanations behind such behavior have been given by psychologists. Though there is nothing unusual in women behaving dominantly, but in certain societies such a behavior is usually frowned upon. As compared to men the effects of hormones are more profound in women. It is because of the hormones that a woman goes through the menstruation cycles. The end of cycles is usually characterized by moody and irritable behavior. During this time, the amount hormones in the body of a woman increases. Researchers have associated the behavior of women with hormones. However, the hypothesis that hormones primarily affect the behavior of women is again being doubted. One of the main reasons against the hypothesis is that many men are also moody and subject to their whims and fancies. Since there are only a limited number of hormones are present in a man's body, the wide range of behavior displayed by some men go unexplained on the basis of this hypothesis.

It is now widely being believed that it is normal for women to show aggressive or dominant behavior as it is normal for men to show such forms of behavior. Such kind of behavior has lot to do with the personality traits that one inherits from ones parent, one's upbringing, education and personal experience. To categorize a women having aggressiveness as immoral or uncultured may just be due to the prejudice that society generally has against women. It seems that with society moving towards a more open society, such type of behavior would be considered as normal. It must be notable that many women displaying aggressive and dominant personality traits have risen to highest positions in their field.
